How To Remove The MS Removal Tool Virus - Manual Guide

MS Removal Tool is a computer infection from the same family as System Tool. This infection is also categorized as a rogue anti-spyware program as it pretends to be an anti-virus program, but is actually a program that displays fake security alerts and scan results in order to make you think your computer is infected. MS Removal Tool is installed through the use of malware that will install the program onto your computer without your knowledge or permission. When installed, the infection files will be created in a random named folder in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\, in XP, or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\, in Windows Vista and Windows 7. It will then be configured to start automatically when you login to your computer.

To make sure that you completely remove the fake antispyware software from your computer be sure to use anti-spyware and antivirus software. I recommend using Spyware Doctor with Antivirus to eradicate the malicious application because it gives antivirus as well as anti spyware security. Furthermore you should also think about using a program like PC Health Advisor to help repair any damage to the registry keys that may have been caused by the malicious antispyware software.

Manual Virus Removal

Due to the fact that the fake antispyware application may hijack your desktop and try to prevent you from opening certain files and programs you might have to end the process manually.

Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to open the Task Manager
Click on the processes tab and end process (random).exe
If that does not work press the Start button on the window task bar
Click Computer
Click on your main drive (normally the C drive)
Then click the folder named USERS
Then click on the name of the current user
Then click on the folder named desktop
Then look for an icon called [name] Icon
Right Click on the Best Malware Icon
Select properties
Copy the file location which is similar to C:\ProgramData\(random).exe\(random).exe

When you copy the folder location leave out the directory that contains the exe file. So if the exact location of the [name] Virus was the same as above you would only need to copy C:\ProgramData\(random).exe\ (keep note of this on a piece of paper)

Then navigate to the above folder
Right click and rename the file within that folder to any name that you choose
Next reboot/turn off and restart the computer
You should notice that your desktop is now functional
You should also see the [name] icon on your desktop
Navigate to the location of the [name] folder that you wrote down
You will see the file that you renamed earlier
Right Click and delete that file
Also delete the folder that contained that file (this would be the location that you wrote down)
Delete the icon from your desktop

By using the methods above your PC should be free from the MS Removal Tool Virus. I would recommend that you definitely run a scan using Spyware Doctor with Antivirus and also PC Health Advisor because some of your PC registry files may also be corrupt.

If you have been unfortunate enough to buy a licence of the dangerous MS Removal Tool Virus then please get in touch with your credit card company and go about getting your money back from these cyber criminals. Make sure that trojan virus is completely removed from your PC and do not expect any form of protection from this rogue application. Your computer will be vulnerable to further attacks from backdoor trojans and viruses that the fake antispyware will allow to infiltrate your computer system.
