What's New in SAS, Release 9.2
SAS/Spectraview is no longer available in version 9.2. Complete list of features introduced in SAS 9.2 is at http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/whatsnew/62435/PDF/default/whatsnew.pdf. The following are a few highlights.

FCMP Procedure
The FCMP procedure is new for 9.2. The SAS Function Compiler Procedure (FCMP) enables you to create, test, and store SAS functions and subroutines.

CORR Procedure
The new ID statement for the CORR procedure specifies one or more variables to identify observations in scatter plots and scatter plot matrices.

FREQ Procedure
TheFREQ procedure can now produce frequency plots, cumulative frequency plots, deviation plots, odds ratio plots, and kappa plots using ODS Graphics.

Graphics
In SAS 9.2, ODS Graphics is production, and over 50 procedures in SAS/STAT, SAS/ETS, SAS/QC, and Base SAS have been modified to use it. Many new plots are now produced by these procedures, either by default or with the specification of procedure options.
SAS/GRAPH statistical graphics procedures provide a simple syntax for creating graphics commonly used in exploratory data analysis and for creating customized statistical displays. These new procedures include the SGPANEL, SGPLOT, and SGSCATTER procedures. For more information, see the SAS/GRAPH: Statistical Graphics Procedures Guide.

SAS/STAT
GLIMMIX, GLMSELECT, and QUANTREG are production with SAS 9.2 and are available on all platforms. The GLMSELECT procedure performs effect selection in the framework of general linear models. The QUANTREG procedure performs quantile regression. The GLIMMIX procedure analyzes generalized linear mixed models.
Bayesian capabilities introduced in experimental procedures BGENMOD, BLIFEREG, and BPHREG are now production in GENMOD, LIFEREG, and PHREG procedures
The experimental MCMC procedure is a general purpose Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) simulation procedure that is designed to fit a variety of Bayesian models. You specify a likelihood function for the data and a prior distribution for the parameters. PROC MCMC obtains samples from the corresponding posterior distributions, produces summary and diagnostic statistics, and saves the posterior samples in an output data set.

New Products
Your installation medium includes several optional products. Among them are SAS Power and Sample Size, SAS Stat Studio, SAS/GRAPH ODS Graphics Editor, SAS Enterprise Guide.

Oracle SQL Developer with MS SQL Server

If, like me, you’re a fan of Oracle’s free SQL Developer application, then you may want to use it to access other types of database. This is possible by installing a third party JDBC driver. E.g. for SQL Server, Sybase or MySQL

Enter the hostname as the machine IP address or server name.

The syntax for this next part isn’t inuitive – In the port field, enter port number (forward slash) database name (semi colon) instance=instance name. If your server isn’t set up with a named instance and uses the default then you can leave that part blank.

Smart Power Duracell myGrid

Charging is achieved by simply dropping the device on the grid pad as long as it contains a Power Clip which will work with Blackberry, Motorola and Nokia phones or a power sleeve. Power sleeves are cases with built-in technology to work with the charging pad and are made for specific devices. I reviewed the product using the iPhone power sleeve which is compatible with the 3G and 3GS phones.

The only thing I do not like about the sleeve is the fact that the dock connector at the bottom sticks out some. This is not a deal breaker, but may pose a problem for some users. The sleeve fits well and will provide the usual protection from such a case. There is enough of a ridge around the screen to protect against drops screen down on a surface. The back contains four small metal contacts that will combine to allow for charging on the pad. The contacts are contained on a small raised spot, but will not add enough bulk or change to be noticeable.

The Duracell myGrid system brings great convenience to charging while going wireless as well as providing a charging solution for several devices at once. Most cell phones as well as some iPod Touches can be charged on the pad so households with a variety of gadgets should be able to utilize the system. My wife has loved being able to simply toss her phone on the pad to charge up when she walks into the house.

The most powerful of the three portable chargers, the Powerhouse can charge two devices at once. It’s a reliable solution to make sure your devices never run out of power.

Microsoft Windows 7 Phone to Smartphone

Microsoft will release Windows 7 OS for smart phones later this year to head off pressure from other operating systems like Google's Android. "OS Windows 7 Phone to compete with other smart phone OS and Windows OS update from the previous phone," said Haswar Hafid, Office of Consumer Marketing Manager of Microsoft Indonesia when the media outing of Microsoft Office 2010 in Cape Dimples, Banten, some time ago.Windows 7 OS users can use Microsoft Office 2010 for editing office documents and excellence in smart phone OS is tebaru & navigation features of interest.

Why the rapid development of the Windows PC OS market is not transmitted to the OS Windows Phone was the development of OS Windows Phone was not as aggressive as other countries at this time because Microsoft Indonesia has not been the focus of the smartphone market. "But the future we will do major promotions like other woods OS smart phone," he said.

Haswar also added that every country has a different OS on their own markets as in the United States and Indonesia are dominated by RIM's BlackBerry and Apple iPhone or the Android OS in other countries.

Windows OS market segment not only for high end users, but especially to users who require high mobility. "Not only businessmen, students who have mobility can also use the Windows OS," said Haswar.

What distinguishes the Windows OS with other smart phone OS, Windows OS Haswar said bussiness is more directed to other smart phone OS lead to social networking.

When asked about the main competitor Apple Antaranews success with the iPad, iPhone, and other PC, Microsoft Office Product Group Head of Indonesian Bussiness Bonnie Mamanua react wisely. "I know that Apple is growing, but we Microsoft will compete with it in a positive competition and become our future challenges.

LG Optimus One with Google

Rather than muscle in with a headline-grabbing, powerful new glamour model, it appears LG has decided to go back to basics with the Optimus One – a standard, no frills, 3.2-inch Android 2.2 smartphone for the everyman. Do we really need another lower-spec Android phone when the Orange San Franciso exists?

First impressions of the Optimus One are rather good, despite the enthusiasm-sapping bland black slab design. The phone feels solid, pleasantly heavy and well made, with a slightly rubbery snap-on back cover giving you a little extra grip. Balanced in the hand, it's the perfect size and layout for one-handed use.

The edge of the phone features a pleasant metallic strip, which is the visible edge of the phone's (very neat!) insides poking out. On this strip sits the volume up/down toggle, which is a solid, metallic rocker; a 3.5mm headphone jack and power button on the phone's top; and a micro USB connector on the bottom.

Sadly, this is yet another Android phone where there's no optical or digital trackpad option to be found, so the Optimus One comes with the caveat that playing some games might be out of the question. Editing text is also that little bit tougher thanks to the lack of any sort of analogue input.

Thankfully, the screen is capacitive, unlike that of LG's GT540, so a light press is enough to get things moving. It doesn't feel particularly solid or glassy beneath the finger, mind, but it does respond well to the touch, is bright and displays colours vividly.
