I liked the original Kindle Fire. I am an avid and loyal Amazon customer. forbes. The new Kindle Fire HDX, on the other hand, is an Amazon tablet I can love. I found that I frequently had to tap, tap again, and tap a little harder just to get letters to type on the display. I never really looked at the subsequent generations of Kindle Fire tablet until the latest models hit the street. The Kindle Fire HDX, however, caught my eye. I’ve had a chance to use both the Kindle Fire HDX and the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, and they are both tablets that are both worth every penny, and worthy of the Amazon brand. The new case bezel is much more comfortable and easier to hold for long periods of time than the original Kindle Fire. The thinner edges make the Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 more svelte than their predecessors. It’s the same composition as the case for Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite. The smaller Kindle Fire HDX weighs less than 11 ounces, and is 7.3 inches by 5 inches with a thickness of only 0.35 inches. The larger Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 is only 13.6 ounces, and is 9.1 by 6.2 inches, and an even thinner 0.31 inch thickness. The processor in the new Kindle Fire tablets is blazing fast. I assume there have been other hardware improvements in the touchscreen display technology, and software improvements in the autofill algorithms, but everything about using the new Kindle Fire HDX devices is faster, and more responsive than with the original. One area where the latest Kindle Fire tablets truly excel, though, is the display. The Kindle Fire HDX has a resolution of 1920 x 1200–delivering a pixel density of 323 PPI (pixels per inch). The Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 has a resolution of 2560 x 1600, with a pixel density of 339 PPI. The Kindle Fire HDX recently beat out leading small tablet competitors in a head-to-head shootout of display quality. The original Kindle Fire was a nice tablet. The Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 don’t make me apologize for buying an Amazon tablet.

Make sense to us: Buy an electric car and get a deal for a home solar unit. It's just great marketing. Who would be most likely to sign up for solar? The same same save-the-earth type who just bought a plug-in car. It's happening with SolarCity, one of the nation's largest solar installers, and BMW. Anyone who buys a new BMW i3 electric car, or the i8 plug-in extended range car when it goes on sale, can get a 10% discount, the two companies announced. "Driving electric is a lifestyle, where customers gain a keen understanding of their driving habits beyond driving and are often inspired to find ways to live more sustainably," said Rob Healey, BMW's EV infrastructure manager. The deal is similar to one earlier this year with Honda and Acura, in which a $65 million fund was establish to "assist" Honda owner's solar panel installations.

Why are so many PS4s dead on arrival? Updated @ 10:28am, Tuesday November 19: The number of people reporting broken PS4s continues to swell. Different kinds of death People are plugging in their PS4 for the first time and being greeted by a blank TV (no video output) and a blinking blue light of death (BLOD, video above). There are some reports that the PS4 broke soon after updating the firmware to version 1.5. There have been some cases of the PS4 overheating (a red light bar), but the vast majority of broken PS4s seem to be DOA. The Xbox 360 had an issue that caused it to wear out over time, while the PS4′s issues are obviously more immediate. How to fix a broken PS4 Sony has published some guidance for PS4 owners trying to fix their BBLOD. Sony also recommends checking your cables/sockets for damage (if the HDMI socket is damaged/dirty, that can explain your PS4′s lack of audio/video). If none of these steps help, you need to contact Sony for a replacement console — or rather, a fixed console, as there’s no stock in North America to like-for-like replacement of your broken console. PS4 Controller Solution

Sony has spoken out on the development of its next-gen console, revealing that it considered button-less options for the new PS4 controller. Some had no buttons, just touch panels. Although the many button-less, touchscreen hosting PS4 controller prototypes finally got knocked on the head, Sony has suggested that gamer and developers alike are excited by the compact touchpad which ended up complimenting the new controller’s buttons. “The developers love the touchpad, but only as the secondary input,” said Aoki. “Of course, as it evolves and people get used to the touchpad, it may become more primary.” With Sony looking for further guidance and input on how its PS4 controller should look and be laid out, the company turning to leading developers for assistance. “We always kept in mind that it was a controller for a platform and not just for our games,” Tommy de Roos, the Lead Gameplay Programmer on Guerilla Games’ PS4 launch title Killzone said.
